Day 1: Airport Transfer.
You will be met by our driver/guide at Entebbe International Airport who will drive you to Kampala the Capital City of Uganda. Check in at any agreed Hotel. If time allows carry out a city tour in Kampala. Visit Uganda Museum a display of all Uganda cultures National Theatre centre for art crafts shops. Visit the mysterious Kasubi tombs – a burial ground for Buganda Kings.
Day 2: Head to Kibale Forest
After breakfast, you will head to Fortportal via Mubende from Kampala, passing all the way through grassy countryside and long-established homesteads and farms. You will reach in 5-6 hours time to. You will stop over in Fort portal town for lunch before driving to Ndali lodge or Primates Lodgewhere you will stay on a full board basis prior to tomorrow’s chimpanzee tracking.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking
After an early breakfast, with local guides trek chimps Kibale National Park in their natural habitat nestled in the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains (the famed mist shrouded “Mountains of the Moon”) Kibale Forest is rich in animal life, including an astonishing 12 species of primates have been recorded, the very localized red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Tracking the chimpanzee our ‘cousin’ is a very interesting experience. The way they feed, climb trees, respond to humans, caring for their young ones leaves an imaginative dream to tell.
In the afternoon visit the surrounding – Bigodi swamp for birding or enjoy unique view of crater lakes and other volcanic features. Drive to Fort Portal town and overnight at Rwenzori View Guest House or Travelers Inn (these provide mid range clean facilities) dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, head for Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is situated at the foot of the Rwenzoris Mountains, protecting over 200 sq km of Rift Valley Savanna, interspersed with patches of forest and crater lakes thus an thought for a safari. At your arrival, carry out a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel. You will scrutinize the concentration of water birds, hippos and crocodiles which is amazing. The bird species includes the black bee- eater, 11 types of king fisher, and several species of falcons, eagles and the raptors and many more. Dinner and overnight Mweya Safari Lodge or Simba Safari Camp.
Day 5: Game drive and chimpanzee tracking at Kyambura Gorge
Early morning game drive in the Park, to see wildlife like elephants, lions, Uganda Kobs, spotted hyenas and the leopard plus many others. In the afternoon, head to Kyambura gorge for the chimpanzee trekking. Dinner and overnight Mweya Safari Lodge or Simba Safari Camp.
Day 6: Tranfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will take an early morning breakfast giving you chance to view early risers-lions, leopard and hyenas .Explore more chances of viewing other species of game you may not have sighted yet and retire to your accommodation for late breakfast. With packed lunch leave this interesting part of the world to Kabale. Arrive in the evening at Kabale and proceed to dramatically scenic Lake Bunyonyi. Overnight at Bunyonyi Safari Resort, Overland camp or Arcadia Cottages.
Day 7: Cross to Rwanda.
Morning take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to the Islands seeing a different bird species and other local community activities. Enjoy the as the Switzerland of Africa. After early lunch, cross the Uganda -Rwanda border at Katuna and drive Ruhengeri via Kigali to have an overnight at Kinigi Guest House, La Palme Hotel or Gorilla Nest Lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla tracking
After breakfast with packed lunch, you will be driven to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters where the local guides will lead you to track gorillas. In the process of tracking gorillas, you will view the diversity of fauna. The time taken and the terrain vary according to the movement of these gentle giants.
The thrill of meeting them face-to-face takes away the pain of some times long and arduous trek. Enjoy a close view of these primates as they undergo their daily activities. you will particularly enjoy the young ones as swing from branch to branch while the sliver back patrols to ensure the safety of the entire family. Cross border to Uganda and overnight in Kisoro/Kabale town.
Day 9: Return to Kampala
After Breakfast, drive to Kampala with lunch stop on the way. Stopover on your way could be in Ankole grassland where long horned cattle are common sight. Continue southwards stopping at Mpambire in Mpigi an art and craft center where drum making technology has been passed on from generation to generation. Check in at Cassia Lodge or The Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Departure
If time allows, visit Botanical gardens before transfer to the airport for your homebound flight.
